English Literary Essay

Cole Danish

A book that I read this summer was called "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. It is a old story about animals that lived on a farm and were tired of their way of life and demanded something better. So they built a rebellion against humans for animal rights by an animal who thought that their society was wrong, so he sought to change it. I think that its a pretty good book if the person who reads it enjoys plot planning, action and short books, since it is one. The book does not have one main character but rather multiple characters each of which is a leader of a different animal species. There was one character in the beginning who portrayed as a main character but ended up dead within the first to second chapter. It is written in a way that you can tell that it was published a long time ago.
There were main characters that played different roles with different strengths and weaknesses. In the beginning, the main character was an animal called "Old Major" but since he died, two other animals took his place as co-leaders. They played the most major roles in the book. The heroes journey for the main characters begins with Old Majors great speech on the start of the Rebellion and the writing of the Animal Commandments. Then there are two conflicts that happen during the overthrow of the farm with a first battle to take over the farm and get rid of the humans who lived there. Then the second battle was later in the book when a couple of humans come over to the farm with a gun and they fight out a battle with lots of animal deaths and almost a human death. At the end of the book, they end up trucing with the humans and live in peace plus instead of calling it Animal Farm anymore they call it Manor Farm which was its original name.
